SCIENTIFIC PROGRAMME

Submissions for the 2017 International Population Conference closed on 15 December. We received 4,572 submissions from 131 countries. Reviewers evaluated the abstracts and Session Organizers and Theme Conveners built sessions for the scientific programme, which were validated by the International Organizing Committee on 13 April. Authors of accepted papers were notified on 15 April.

Please find below the online scientific programme for the conference, which includes papers and posters accepted in regular and poster sessions. Presenting authors will need to confirm their attendance by registering for the conference. After 15 June, papers without a registered presenting author will be replaced by wait-listed papers and posters. The final conference programme will also include 4 key plenary sessions, training sessions, panel debates, Sponsored Research Leader Sessions, side meetings, and many other events.  Simultaneous Interpretation (French/English)

Simultaneous interpretation will be provided for all plenary sessions and in 8 of the 12 rooms where regular sessions are taking place. All rooms offering simultaneous interpretation are denoted in the Conference programme. Interpretation will be from French to English and English to French.

Headsets

Delegates can obtain headsets from kiosk outside the exhibition area at  Hall 2. To obtain a headset you must leave a passport or national ID card at one of the headset distribution kiosks. Please be sure to bring your passport or identification with you to the Conference Center. Headsets will be issued

Conference Schedule

The Opening Ceremony for the Conference will begin at 5:00 pm on Sunday 29 October. If you plan to attend the Opening Ceremony, please  arrive early to complete onsite registration and badging – photos will be taken for badges, and all participants at the Conference or attending side meetings before the Conference will need a badge to enter the CTICC conference center.  Participants must show their passport or South African identity card at onsite registration.    NB.  Passport and ID information should match the information provided when registering online.  Onsite registration will open Friday 27 October, so come early and avoid the last minute crowds.

The scientific sessions begin 8:30 am on Monday 30 October and end at 5:00 pm Friday 3 November. The  Closing Ceremony will take place at 5:15 pm.

Note that there will also be side meetings organized before the Conference, on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 October, as well as after the conference on Saturday 4 November 2017.

Call for Papers

Themes and sessions

The Call for papers  contains 19 general themes and over 100 session topics from which an expected total of 240 regular Conference oral or poster sessions will be created.  Population scholars are invited to submit abstracts to the appropriate session or theme. Abstracts, extended abstracts and papers can be submitted in English or French. Session Organisers and Theme Conveners will select papers for presentation at the Conference on the basis of the relevance and merits of the abstracts submitted to the proposed session. Abstracts not fitting a specific session topic should be submitted to the general theme topic. Theme conveners will create sessions based on the number of high quality submissions received.
